Stomping Grounds- Update #1

First off I should probably tell you all what Stomping Grounds actually is, or at least my idea of what I want it to be. Stomping Grounds will be a music festival for local hip/hop, electronic, alternative, etc. artists, with an emphasis on high school musicians, to perform. The main goal of this event is not just to put on a festival, I want the whole community to be involved. From local food and coffee shops, to local businesses, I want everyone in our locality to be a part of and benefit from Stomping Grounds.

The first objective was to obviously do some preliminary research on how to make a music festival. So, I read through a few blogs, went to Made in America, and got advice from a few peers. From what I’ve gathered, I feel like I’m starting on very solid footing. Throughout this week’s experiences, I’ve gained so much more knowledge about what I have to do to make this thing really happen. Through the lectures and conversations at the Bphl. Innovation Festival in Philadelphia, to our class talk with Jeremy Miller, one of the founders at STARTitUP, project management and organization have been stressed and I have started filling out our project proposal form for outside businesses to look at when asking for sponsorships. I have already assembled a group of 5 of my classmates, all with unique skill sets to help me complete the project. I’m hoping more will come and join as we work towards our ultimate goal of creating a outstanding experience for our local population that they’ll never forget.
